TCG Log #18 - I never expected to be that guy
From TCG to… tarot?
Hey all!
It's been another exciting week at Edge Esmeralda. And yeah, I did something I never thought I'd do.
It all started with the original Alpha Set I dropped in Istanbul back in 2023. Since then, I've had many requests for this, and finally, just a few days ago, my girlfriend convinced me to transform these cards into tarot cards 🔮
So what's a recovering atheist with rationalist tendencies doing channeling messages from the universe?
Well, speaking purely rationally, tarot turns out to be an amazing container for deep, meaningful conversations—both with strangers and close friends alike.
Too often we get stuck in small talk, but having people choose a card, reading their tarot, and exploring how it fits their intention or question has led to extraordinary connections.
At this point, I’ve done a lot of readings, and besides deep connections, there's also been quite a bit of magic… but I'll save that for another conversation.
In other news, I’m currently in the World residency, and I'm thrilled to share that I've gotten the game running both in-browser and on mobile!
No more downloading .exe files or navigating app store hoops—now it’s as simple as visiting a website.
I'm kicking off tests with a small group this week, and fingers crossed, I'll have a live version to share soon.
Here’s a clip of me sharing progress at the World residency:
After two months away from code, diving back in felt both challenging and deeply gratifying. There's just nothing like the thrill of making games.
With metta,
Colton
